The Globe at Night program has begun! This annual event asks people around the world to observe a portion of the night sky and report how many stars they can see. Last year, over 18,000 people from 96 countries reported more than 4,500 nighttime observations.
This year's Globe at Night event runs March 8 - 21, 2007.
Take part in this international event to observe the nighttime sky and learn more about light pollution around the world. GLOBE (Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment) is a worldwide hands-on, primary and secondary school-based education and science program. The GLOBE Program, the National Optical Astronomy Observatory (NOAO), the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR) Office of Education and Outreach, Windows to the Universe, Centro de Apoyo a la Didactica de la Astronomia (CADIAS), and ESRI are collaboratively sponsoring two weeks of nighttime observations - the second annual GLOBE at Night!
Information on the event is here http://www.globe.gov/GaN/ and information about GLOBE and their other activities may be found here http://www.globe.gov/.
