SELENE learned today that the NYS Senate approved Assemblyman Alexander "Pete" Grannis' appointment as DEC Commissioner. The appointment became official during an evening Senate session this past Saturday. He is expected to officially resign his Assembly seat on Monday April 9th and immediately begin his new job. The appointment opens the way for action to proceed on the Healthy, Safe, and Energy Efficient Outdoor Lighting Act (the "light pollution bill"). Watch this site for news. SELENE expects another Assembly representative to file an updated version of the bill in the upcoming days.
