Both the Assembly and Senate versions of the The Healthy, Safe, and Energy Efficient Outdoor Lighting Act have been passed by those houses' environmental conservation committees.
If you have not yet called or written your state representatives, today is the day to do so! Visit our legislation page for info, addresses, and a link to find your state representatives. The next stop on the way to a floor vote differs a bit for each house. In the Assembly, the bill has been referred to the the Codes committee. In the Senate, the bill is on its way to the Rules committee.
This bill has died repeatedly in the Senate Rules committee. We fear that without strong support from people like you, the bill will again fail to reach the Senate floor for a vote. Entrenched interests are coming out in opposition of the bill. Even though support from environmental and citizen groups continues to grow, we need broad support from NY residents to overcome the opposition.
