Comments are now being accepted by the IDA on their new model lighting ordinances. From the IDA: "After more than three years of work, the IDA/IES Joint Task Force has completed its work and approved the long-awaited Model Lighting Ordinance (MLO) for review and public comment through the parent organizations, the International Dark Sky Association (IDA) and the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES)."
SELENE encourages you to read the new draft and submit your comments. Our early reviews indicate that this MLO suffers from many of the flaws inherent in earlier drafts. Click the "read more" link for instructions on reading and commenting on the draft.
The IDA lists specific requirement for comments and states that they will not consider comments that don't follow their rules. So, if you plan to submit comments, make sure they get counted by following IDA's procedures. You can find info and instructions here:
